Volunteer abroad with ICYE UK

Career Break Volunteering

Are you thinking about taking a career break or sabbatical year to experience something different, learn something new, see the world and contribute to a worthwhile social, environmental or community project?

While we do have our roots in youth work originally, we do not have a strict upper age limit on who can participate in our programmes. This means our ethical international volunteering placements are open to anyone with a passion for intercultural learning and a desire to help a local NGO abroad.

Volunteering with ICYE UK can be an opportunity for you to apply and expand skills you have learned through your career in new rewarding ways while immersed in a new and exciting setting, or to gain a whole different set of skills and experiences!

Through our ICYE network we can offer opportunities with hundreds of locally run NGOs worldwide, so whether you’re interested in human rights, sports, arts, supporting excluded groups, education, social care, disability support, environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, or just growing your understanding of people, development processes and the world, we’ll have a project for you to sink your teeth into.
